FAQs?

1How long does it take for implants to heal?
In healthy individuals, dental implants typically heal and integrate with surrounding bone over 3-6 months. Typically temporary solutions can be made for missing teeth such as flippers, essix retainers, or composite bridges for single teeth, or temporary healing implant appliances/dentures for full arches.
2Why do I need to provide a thorough medical history?
Certain health conditions may hinder the healing process of implant integration. It is important to share your medical history with Dr. Shane Turgeon to ensure that there are no contraindications prior to implant placement. Some conditions may be controlled for with proper planning and consultion between Dr. Shane Turgeon and your primary care physician.
3What is a CBCT and why is this necessary?
A CBCT is a 3D scan of your mouth and face for Implant planning. It is important for proper evaluation of the implant site, to determine the quality of bone at the implant site and to measure and evaluate surrounding nerves and anatomical structures. It allows for faster implant surgeries due to proper planning and printing of surgical guides.
